Mayor of Szczecin, Poland and the Freeborn Development Group Conduct
Overseas Trade Meetings in St. Louis, Missouri USA.
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI-May 23, 2005 -- The Honorable Marian Jurczyk, Mayor of Szczecin,
Poland, John Freeborn and Ralph Eskew, Principal Partners with the Freeborn Development
Group conducted business meetings with trade and manufacturing officials while on an economic
development mission in St. Louis, Missouri last week.
Messieurs Jurczyk, Freeborn and Eskew held meetings at a trade event attended by 250
executives from business and government, including The Honorable Matt Blunt, governor of
Missouri. Mayor Jurczyk discussed advantages of Szczecin's port, research, manufacturing,
distribution, and encouraged executives to consider Szczecin their first destination for market
entry into the European Union or Russia.
Mr. Jurczyk met with Mr. Robert Ogrodnik, who is Polish Consul in St. Louis and a senior
consultant with Emerson, a global technology and engineering company, and with Mr. Thomas
Olesky, chief executive of The ROHO Group, a manufacturer of consumer and healthcare
products.
The mayor, Freeborn and Eskew also met with Mr. Robert Heuermann, Jr., executive director of
World Trade Center Saint Louis and Mr. Stewart Dahlberg, Chairman of the Missouri District
Export Council. These meetings were held in anticipation of a trade mission by St. Louis
executives traveling to Poland this October for meetings with Szczecin officials.
Szczecin and St. Louis formed a twin city relationship in 1992 to promote business, trade,
education, technology and cultural exchanges. Since then, people in Szczecin and St. Louis have
engaged in productive international commerce and quality of life initiatives.
Mr. Jurczyk was accompanied by Mr. Greg Koltuniak from the Szczecin-St. Louis Sister Cities
Committee, and Ms. Ewa Kurjata, chief of foreign affairs in Szczecin. In St. Louis, the mayor also
met with Mariusz Adam Jakubowski, chief of the Commercial & Economic Department for Poland's
Consulate General office in Chicago.
